Threshold 这一名称曾是下一代 Windows 的代号，但随着 Windows 9 的出现，人们渐渐不再提及 Threshold。然而，现在有新的证据显示，Windows Threshold 是真实存在的，并且就是下一代 Windows。

微软的一位高管在其 LinkedIn 个人简历中，明确表示自己是 Windows Threshold 的项目主管之一。虽然此处没有提供更多关于 Threshold 的信息，但这至少证明了之前有关 Windows Threshold 的传言有一定的可信度。

关于 Windows Threshold，目前了解到的情况是，它预计于 2015 年 4 月发布。在 Windows Threshold 中，开始菜单将回归，同时你也可以在桌面上以窗口形式运行 Metro/Modern 应用，就如同传统软件一样。
